Description

Goodog workshop and training sessions are scheduled throughout the year.

Our next Goodog workshops and training sessions:

If you need assistance when the workshops are not scheduled, the Teenage & Rescue Dog Course covers all the individual Workshop content in one course – with locations in Balgowlah, Seaforth, Collaroy and Terrey Hills: more info.

  • Recall – come back when called: Thu 11th May 2023, 1pm-3pm

Recall:
Do you want the perfect recall and a dog who comes back no matter what? The Goodog Recall workshop helps owners and dogs perfect their recall. Learning a good recall also assists us to keep our dogs safe from roads or exciting but sometimes dangerous items, like snakes or baits.

Dog Grooming: Consent Behaviour, Nail Filing & Trimming
In this workshop we teach you behaviours around dog grooming. This will help your dog be less anxious at the vet, or when you are handling them for other grooming needs. First, you’ll learn about dog consent. When dogs give consent, they are less anxious and so it’s a better time to clip their nails or even add drops to their ears. Next, we’ll work with a sand paper board and show you how your dog can file their own nails. Here is a video showing us working with a young dog: Dog self nail filing. Once you’ve mastered consent behaviours, we’ll show you how to trim your pups nails. Nail trimming equipment is available for use in class, but if you have your own clippers bring them along.

Prerequisites: any dog or puppy who is friendly with people and other dogs can join.

Goodog workshop and training sessions on rotation:

Recall:
Do you want the perfect recall and a dog who comes back no matter what? The Goodog Recall workshop helps owners and dogs perfect their recall. Learning a good recall also assists us to keep our dogs safe from roads or exciting but sometimes dangerous items, like snakes or baits.

Leave It:
In this workshop Barbara teaches a solid ‘leave it’ cue. The ‘leave it’ cue assists in reaching any unknown items before your dog can – and potentially save their life.

Loose Leash Walking
Do you want your dog to walk nicely on a leash, ignore distractions and focus on you rather than all the other interesting things out there? We show you in a fun way how to train your dog to enjoy leash walking.

Socialisation Refresher for Pandemic Pups and Covid Dogs:
In this two hour workshop we specifically address puppies and dogs who had their routine or training affected by the pandemic. They may have forgotten their training, become socially awkward, or not coping with you leaving the house (left home alone). Therefore, this is a refresher workshop on everything. We’ll cover Recall, Loose Leash Walking, Tricks, how to behave around other dogs, and whatever pops up on the day. Barbara wrote an article for Australian Dog Lover about covid dogs, so join this workshop if this sounds like your dog: Covid Dogs: Lonely and Socially Inept!

Trick Training:
Trick training is a great way to improve your relationship with your dog and have some fun. We teach some basic tricks like take a bow, spin, weave through legs, then move to targeting, picking up specific items and how to close a door or turn on a light.

Goodog Graduate Refresher:
Join our Goodog Graduate Refresher – a fast pace fun course for clients who have completed one of our Puppy Preschools or Teenage, Rescue & Apartment dog classes. This is a 2 week class, one hour each week. This is a 2 week class, one hour each week. We revise the basics (attention, sit, lie down, wait and stay, loose leash walking, come when called) and trouble shooting for any questions you might have. We then proceed to more challenging situations like the coffee shop, recall at the dog park and some advanced tricks.

Combo Workshops:
This will be a combination of two workshops in one. The combo workshops are still 2 hours and the same cost, they just cover two or more topics.
